Sorry for the lack of News Recaps lately: ( I was in Maui last week).

A lot has been happening lately.

Celebrities have been making surprise appearances in the parks:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson crashed a trip around the Jungle in Orlando as part of an announcement that the previously mentioned Jungle Cruise movie starring The Rock will begin filming in 2018.     Internet rumors have details about him meeting with Imagineers about possible updates to the ride.   Other Disney sites claim this rumors are not true….But I can totally see a Rock animatronic on the ride at some point especially if the movie does well.

Literally two days before our trip to Maui we stopped by for the last day of DCA’s Food and Wine Festival(  I’ll post about that later this week).  Goofy.jpg

If we had just gone the day before Kurt Russell was there for the Food and Wine Festival.   Of course several of his wines are featured in the parks and at the Alfresco Lounge.  Would have loved to see him there in person talking about his wines

And of course the biggest Surprise Celebrity appearance was in Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland where Johnny Depp showed up in full Jack Sparrow costume to surprise the guests.  Videos of this starting showing up all over the internet.  You can find a couple on the  Mouse Minute Facebook page.

Star Wars News:

There was a little event called Star Wars Celebration in Orlando a couple of weeks ago.    This event included panels celebrating Star Wars 40th Anniversary with George Lucas and Harrison Ford among those in the panel.   There was a touching tribute to Carrie Fisher and a surprise appearance by John Williams conducting live.     The Last Jedi panel gave us a new teaser trailer and a whole lot of questions that we will have to wait until December to hopefully get answered.    Here is the Teaser poster for the Last Jedi revealed at Celebration.    You can find the Trailer everywhere online including The Mouse Minute Facebook page.

Star Wars Rebels also premiered a trailer for it’s 4th and final season which should be epic.  (I’m still waiting to watch the end of Season 3 which my DVR recorded over).   I should have a Season 3 Review up by next week.  The Series has been ramping up to the events of Rogue One ….I can’t wait to see how they end it and what is next.

Other Disney Movie and Theme Park News:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (which currently has a sneak peek in the parks) hits theaters this week.    The soundtrack which was a big part of the first one has been announced and the movie looks terrific from everything I’ve seen and heard so far.

Guardians

Speaking of Guardians the new ride Mission Breakout will be opening later this month as well and there will also be a Superhero themed party in the old Mad Tea Party area with meet and greets and music from the films.

The ride will also be featuring music as well as one of the following 6 songs will randomly accompany you and Rocket Raccoon as you try to escape the Collector’s Fortress.

  • Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar.
  • “Give Up The Funk” by Parliament.
  • “Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf.
  • “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5.
  • “Free Ride” by The Edgar Winters Group.
  • “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley.

Tower

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 comes out in theaters on May 26th as well and a sneak peek with some costumes will be in DCA.  I can’t wait to get out to the parks and report on that in the weeks to come.  The Depp appearance at Disneyland just got me even more pumped for this next installment in the Pirates series.

Pirats

Of course a Non-Disney Movie which they got the Theme Park rights to before they landed Star Wars is also big in the news right now.   Pandora   AKA  Avatarland  is about to open this month and all the East Coast Disney Websites have been getting some sneak peeks.    Whether you like the movie or not  (Great Special Effects –Story is just a dressed up Pocahontas)   the Themed Land is looking pretty awesome.    Check out some of the links we have posted from those East Coast site on Facebook.Pandora.jpg
