Goofy Man's Best Friend

Man’s Best Friend 1952  5 out of 10

Goofy buys a pet dog  named Bowser and then attempts to train it.  I still haven’t figured out how this cartoon universe works and why some dogs like Goofy are treated like people and other dogs like Pluto are pets,  but that is just the way it is

Goofy’s dog Bowser grows up from a small little dog into a bear sized beast.  This cartoon features a little too much Bowser and not enough Goofy for my tastes as the giant dog is the main feature in this cartoon.  It features some good sight gags as Goofy attempts to walk the beast –but I felt they wasted some story potential as this could have been played up for more laughs.   Instead we get a segment at the end where Goofy goes out for the night and Bowser does the worst job ever of protecting the house,  letting a burglar basically walk right past him only to be an alert guard again when Goofy returns home biting a hole in his pants.  This was not one of the better Goofy Cartoons in my opinion and the giant dog storyline was wasted in what could and should have been a better cartoon.
