Before the Disney investors Day several very reliable sources were talking about a Boba Fett series that was definitely going to happen. So it was shocking when a Boba series wasn’t announced. We only had to wait about a week until those rumors were confirmed at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2. The little teaser for the series that was a post credit scene was really cool and just gets the imagination running.
The official announcement from Disney this morning confirmed that the Book of Boba Fett will be a separate series from The Mandalorian starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. It will be produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriquez which gives me all the confidence in the world that this will be an awesome series. It will take place in the same Timeline as The Mandalorian much like the 2 other series announced last week Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic. Basically The Mandalorian now has 3 spin-off shows.
Other than the fact that this series will be coming out in Dec 2021 there is very little information about the show at this time. The post credit teaser gave us a glimpse that this series will probably dig into the underworld as Boba Fett strolls into Jabba’s palace and kind of brutally takes out the crime lords sitting where Jabba once ruled. Let’s just say that once this series airs next year, I don’t think anyone will ever say Boba Fett is overrated anymore. Although it says that it will take place I’m hoping we will get some flashback as to how Boba survived the Sarlacc pit and what happened to him in the years before we meet him again in The Mandalorian. I’m super excited to see what he is up to after that teaser. With the creatives in charge of this I’m sure we will be in for a wild ride that could include Hutt’s and bounty hunters and creatures galore.
